The Borough of Irwin is located in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, approximately twenty miles southeast of the city of Pittsburgh. Incorporated in 1864, the borough is home to approximately 4,300 residents and is served by the Norwin School District, one of the top school districts in the state.
Irwin is home to a number of historic sites of interest, including the James Irwin House, built by the father of Irwin’s founder, and Brush Hill, the circa-1798 Federal-style home of Colonel John Irwin, founder of Irwin that is now a privately owned residence.
The Borough of Irwin loves a celebration and hosts a number of festivals and special events each year for the enjoyment of residents and visitors alike! Events of note include the Chili Cook Off and Wing Thing Crawl, held each February, Ethnic Festival & Spring Craft Show, held in June, and Irwin Art & Jazz Nites, held on select Friday nights during the months of June, July, and August. The city also sponsors the popular Concerts in the Park series, held during summer months in Irwin Park at the Irwin Park Amphitheater.
Key community amenities include several area golf courses that include Irwin Country Club and Carradam Golf Club, both 18-hole regulation length public golf courses.
